Editorial policy
Rural Film Culture aims to make rural cinema and its surrounding culture easier to understand. We write plainly, check factual claims carefully and make the limits of an explanation clear.
Accuracy and context
We check names, dates, quotations and other factual details against suitable sources before publication. We distinguish established information from interpretation, and avoid unsupported claims about particular communities, venues or audiences. If a subject varies by place or period, we make that scope clear.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions remain separate from commercial arrangements. Any sponsored or partner material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial content. A partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage, and contributors do not receive editorial control over unrelated material.
Corrections
We correct errors when they are brought to our attention and update an article when a material change is needed for accuracy. Readers can use the Contact page to identify the article and explain the issue. We aim to make substantive corrections clear rather than silently leaving a misleading claim in place.
Illustrations
Some illustrations may be AI-generated. Illustrative images are not evidence that a pictured screening, venue, person or event exists. We will not use an illustration to imply documentary coverage of a real rural community.
A screen is part of its place
A film night depends on more than the film: the room, the audience and the way people come together all matter.
